Bakari Boerboel Kennel is owned and operated by Kim and
Lee Chapman. My children Jessica, Christopher and Katelind assist
in the care of our dog's and our puppies. We consider all of our
animals to be a part of our family. Before purchasing our first
Boerboel, Lee and I did a great deal of research on the breed.
We went to Rare Breed dog shows to see the breed in action. We
bought books about the Boerboel, on how to raise them, what
to expect from the breed, temperament, size, aggression, nature,
trainability and more. What caught our attention the most as we
were doing research, is how everything we read always mentioned
how loyal and loving the breed was to their families. We were
sold.
We have come to learn that the Boerboel is loyal, docile to
his owner and the children in their family. They are very affectionate.
The Boerboel makes an excellent guard dog for their families. This
breed is very athletic and needs regular exercise. They make great
jogging buddies! Boerboels are very trainable and very willing
to learn and please. They are quiet around the house. They
do not wonder off from home and they stick close to their masters.
Lee
and I live in Spartanburg, South Carolina. While I have lived
here for almost fourteen years, Lee was born and raised here.
We both have a great passion for animals. Over the years we have
owned Saint Bernards, Boxers, Pit bulls, Neo. Mastiffs, Shitzu,
Chihuahuas, and Cane Corsos. Our family has also included Potbelly
pigs, Lizards, Mud puppy, Outside pond, Inside fish tanks, Salamanders,
rabbits, and believe it or not, our Monkey "Nicholas",
whom I love with all my heart. Lee and I help with many different
rescue groups here in South Carolina. We help to place unwanted
animals of all kinds.
My infaturation with the Boerboel breed began after meeting my first one (pictured at left with my daughters Jessica & Katelind) at a rare breed dog show in Charlotte NC. I had never seen such an incredible and impressive dog. . . [more content here].
We began our breeding program using the best imported Boerboles we could find as our foundation stock. Breeding for Temperament, Strength, Agility and Endurance, we strive to produce a correct and healthy well-rounded dog that can be equally successfull in the show ring, the working field, or as a family companion.
Lee and I work hard to make Bakari Kennel a memorable event when
families come to visit. We enjoy walking families around the Kennel,
so they can see "first hand" where our dogs live, eat,
play and sleep. None of our dogs sleep outside. They all have
their own place inside to sleep at night. All of our dogs are
crate trained, and obedience trained. All of our Boerboels are
registered, and have been X-rayed free of Hip Dysplasia.
